Grenfell Ride
The Grenfell Ride is an
annual fund-raising snowmobile ride carried out each year in mid-March to commemorate Dr.
Grenfell's "Adrift on an Icepan" expedition. The ride carries you from St.
Anthony to Main Brook following along the trail that Dr. Grenfell travelled by dogteam to
attend to patients along the peninsula. The ride consists of beautiful snow covered
scenery, following up with carnival events including races, food and the famous flour lift.
It is one event within the region that brings people together, and it is already the
largest snowmobile gathering in Newfoundland.
Grenfell and Christmas
Each year the Grenfell
Historical Society holds a Christmas fund-raising event. A special tree is placed in the
Grenfell Interpretation Centre and individuals purchase a tree ornament in memory of a
special person and place it on the memory tree. A special gathering is planned with
festive cookies and punch and the name of each individual is read out in memory. The event
is followed up with the lighting of a Christmas tree which is erected outside the Grenfell
Interpretation Centre.
Grenfell Heritage
Night
An annual event
hosted by the Grenfell Heritage Night committee of Grenfell Regional Health Services. The
event includes music, dancing, newfie mug up, ticket draws etc. The Grenfell Historical
Society hosts a morning event including an ecumenical service in honour of Dr. Grenfell
and the Grenfell Mission. The service concludes with a breakfast served at the Grenfell
Interpretation Centre.
